GOST 6221-90 (CN of FEA code 2814 10 0000)

Liquid ammonia is used in various branches of industry and agriculture; it is manufactured for national economy and for export.

It is made in three grades: «A», «Ak» and «B».

”A” grade is used for nitric acid manufacturing, for nitridation as cooling reagent, for creating shielding atmospheres.

”Ak” grade is supplied for export.

“B” grade is used for fertilizer processing and for agriculture as nitrogen fertilizers.

Safety Requirements: liquid ammonia refers to hardly combustible substances. At normal temperature and atmosphere pressure it is in gaseous state position. Ammonia mixture with air is explosible. In a case of combustion fixed automatic in extinguishing installations of water, foam or incombustible gases are used. Liquid ammonia refers to toxic substances of 4th class hazard. Ammonia gas causes a sharp mucous membrane irritations, lacrimation, and asthma, in contact with skin causes heavy burns.

Packaging: liquid ammonia is poured in steel cylinders and also in railway and road tankers. Cylinders are filled up with product not more than 80%. The hatches of tankers should be hermetically covered and sealed. Tankers are filled up with product not more than 80 - 85%.

Transportation: in special ammonium railway and road tankers, in steel cylinders, cargo tanks and through pipeline.

Storage: liquid ammonia is kept in land storage tanks in storehouses, cylinders are held in special storage houses or open areas under fence roof, protected from atmospheric condensations and direct sun rays.

Guarantee term of storage: 1 year since the date of manufacturing.
